Rapper, entrepreneur, trend setting socialite, record producer and reality TV star are some of the titles that describe the phenomenon that is American born Leslie ‘Da L.E.S’ Mampe, also popularly known as the North god. L.E.S first became known to the mainstream community and achieved his early success as a member of the motherland crunk group, Jozi, alongside Crazy Lu, Ishmael and Bongani Fassie, the son of legendary African pop singer Brenda Fassie. Together they took the South African music industry by storm with a sound that infused South African traditional elements.

When the success of Jozi came to an end, Da L.E.S successfully launched his own solo career, churning out hits like Fire and Tippy Toes. Since then it’s been nothing but a smooth journey for the North God. To date, he has released four smashing albums, namely; Fresh 2 Def, Mandela Money, North God and most recently, on the 9 of December 2016, Diamond in Africa. L.E.S is a premier entertainer that has had a career that has seen him share stages with heavyweights such as Kelly Rowland, Rick Ross, T-Pain and 2Face in concerts across the African continent. The North god has also opened for both Kendrick Lamar and Big Sean and featured and won the fifth season of SABC 1 reality competition ‘Tropika Island of Treasure’ and was also one of the four cast members of the Vuzu Amp reality series, ‘The Real Jozi A-Listers’.

Fresh off his Tropika Island of Treasure win, L.E.S opened up for international rap megastar TWO CHAINZ at the Miller Boomtown 10 years’ celebration. His passion for skating led him and a couple of friends to Kimberley, to perform at the Kimberley Diamond Cup World Skateboarding Championships in September 2013. With L.E.S being one of the highest selling artists in South Africa, it only makes sense that he was invited to perform alongside AKA at the 2013 IDOLS South Africa finals, held in Sun City. Shifting the focus back to being a pioneer for the industry, L.E.S spent October 2013 in Los Angeles, performing at the Los Angeles South African Arts Festival and also getting to record with rap superstar Scoop Deville on a feature with Los Rakas. His star power was further enhanced through his shooting of a video for the same song, with world-renowned music video director and editor, Matt Alonzo (has worked on videos for Xzibit, Cypress Hill, Far East Movement, The Game, Ice Cube, Pitbull, etc.).
